I will never forget the feeling I had driving my Jeep down the hill to Nauset Beach last year. Seeing the CCRB Stage with banners flying in all their glory, my friends Ripe on stage, rocking out while the smiling faces in the crowd were jamming! It was just noon and people were dancing under a bluebird sky on a perfect September morning. I walked backstage and there was my friend Ron Artis with his brother Steven and bassist Ernie Ecraela. I had a big old hug with Ron and couldn’t help the tears of joy welling up. We had done it! After years of dreaming and 8 months of planning and plotting with my cohorts Jason Brown, Mike Hannigan, Mike McNamara, and many many others, we pulled off our first festival, The Cape Cod Roots and Blues Fest.
Introducing Ron and later my brother Citizen Cope and feeling the love from our community, family and friends, was a vibe that will always stay with me. If you were there, then you know just the feeling I’m talking about. During our set when I thanked the crowd for their support and love I remember saying, “this is for you guys and we are gonna keep bringing you the best music from all over the world right here to our favorite beach in the world!” And that’s a promise we intend to keep.
So, it’s with your blessings and support that we are cranking it up again in 2019. We are expanding our stage and infrastructure to enhance the crowd experience for you and your families. We’ve put together another unbelievably stellar lineup of talented and inspiring musicians and singers, artists whom I believe in and whom I want to play with. I had always dreamed of bringing all of our extended musical families together to the place we love the best and we look forward to another epic CCRB on September 14th, 2019.
Love you all!
As a big family man, G. Love is excited for another year of bringing his musical family together with his Outer Cape Cod family in the Second Annual Cape Cod Roots & Blues Festival. The backdrop will again be the beautiful Nauset Beach located in Orleans, MA. This 10-mile stretch of sandy beach offers swimming & fishing, plus surfing in non-protected areas.
Both the relationships with the people of the Outer Cape Cod Community and the beautiful surrounding local landscape, are an important part of CCR&B Festival. The surrounding beaches along with local favorite, Hog Island Beer Company, share the event space again with the homegrown, raw and rootsy music of the extraordinary live performers of the CCR&B Festival. These exceptional characteristics blend together to produce a unique event right on the Atlantic Ocean, creating an exquisite day of sounds, sites and clean, fresh ocean air.
With an expanding vendor area, new water stations and children’s village, CCR&B Festival is privileged to be a part of making new memories with you and your family as you converse with the natural surroundings of Nauset Beach and the unembellished energy of the live entertainment. In the spirit of that blend of music and community nature, the CCR&B Festival will be again be donating a portion of the proceeds to a local organization, Friends of Nauset Beach, which aims to preserve the natural habitat, wildlife, and fauna of the Outer Cape and donating a portion of the proceeds.
Mike McNamara, owner and cofounder of the Hog Island Beer Co. in Orleans MA, has assembled a nonprofit appropriately named “Friends of Nauset Beach”. This nonprofit has been established to preserve the environmental integrity of the shore and ensure public access and awareness for future generations.
We are so proud to be working with the Friends of Nauset Beach as our non profit partner for the Cape Cod Roots & Blues Festival. Much like us, they have an a very special agenda to keep the Beach of Nauset an amazing place to be. Here are the main tenants of the Friends of Nauset Beach:
